The tour of the Northern Cape forms part of SA Tourism’s bolstering of its Sho’t Left campaign with the aim of EXPOSING THE LESSER VISITED PROVINCES TO THE LOCAL TRADE WHILST encouraging locals to “see your world differently”.
“SA Tourism acknowledges the challenges faced by local trade in getting updated product knowledge of the lesser visited provinces such as the Northern Cape,” says Denys Botes SA Tourism Channel Manager – Domestic Marketing. “We have just re-launched our Sho’t Left campaign making this an opportune time to not only rejuvenate our travelers, but also the trade.”
The FUNDI programme is aimed at assisting local trade, in selling South Africa as the leisure destination of choice, to fellow South Africans. The five day itinerary covers experiences such as the Northern Cape’s Battlefields, game drives, national parks and natural phenomenons found only in the real province of the Northern Cape.
“With the Northern Cape being the first of the lesser provinces to visit we trust that this real experience will assist these Fundis in selling the Province to a new market segment who did not previously have travel as a do-able leisure activity”, says Sharon Lewis – CEO Northern Cape Tourism
In addition to product education, participants are encouraged to register on the trade extranet – a newly developed online resource - to help the travel industry sell South Africa more effectively. FUNDI, South African Tourism’s online destination specialist course, have yielded a number of qualified destination specialists over the past 15 months.
