Khamkirri Private Game Reserve, situated on the banks of the mighty Orange River in the Augrabies district, worked in close cooperation with Land Rover to ensure that the Free Lander 2 launch turned out to be successful. Seventy journalists flew in to Upington Airport from the Western Cape and Gauteng and during a two two-day long rotation enjoyed adventure-filled activities in the heart of the Green Kalahari. Kkamkirri provided the event hosts with the perfect solution by planning adrenalin filled days filled with a fantastic range of activities. The two-day expedition entailed traveling extensively through the Upington, Keimoes and Kakamas districts, testing the luxurious vehicles on various road surfaces. On arriving at Khamkirri the journalists took part in river rafting, horseriding, mountain biking and fly-fishing. They then visited the Augrabies Falls National Park, where they experienced the sounds of roaring Orange River waters falling down into the gorge.

On the second day, waking up to the stunning red colours of dawn, the group kicked of with a practice run on the red Kalahari dunes. The final event of the tour was a visit to Riemvasmaak where the Freelanders' were put to test over the incredible moon-like features of the area and then the journalists enjoyed a dip in its hot springs. All in all it was a memorable, enjoyable and adventure-filled experience for all the participants, a successful launch for Landrover, and a feather in the cap for the organizers – Khamkirri.
